Biography
David Stein started his early career in Photography in the late 70’s. After working the darkrooms for Skrudland Photography in Chicago developing 20,000 rolls of film a week, David moved to Austin, Texas where he continued working developing film for the Skrudland Corporation. David artistic career has taken many paths to include gem stone faceting, oil painting, Sculpture and Photography. Although David’s initial artistic journey started with photography he finds his true love with the arts to be in many visual mediums. His photography has inspired some of his most famous paintings to date. Achieving abstract paintings through photorealism is a challenge and shooting pictures as if he was painting them is how he creates a sense danger, awe and abstraction at the same time. He still is striving to capture that perfect picture in which he will probably turn into an abstract oil painting. “Freezing time and space in a photograph is an everyday occurrence that only a few have been able to do that will last for generations to come”. That my friend is the perfect photograph. If someone looks at one of my photos and says, how did you get that, then I know I have done my job.
