Detective Will Pursley

Biography
Will studied Photography (in addition to Graphic Design, and Molecular Biology) at the University of Texas at Austin slightly less than what seems like a couple hundred years ago. Naturally, this led him into a lengthy career in Law Enforcement, and he has been with the Austin Police Department for the last nine years. During his Cadet class, he was elected as an Historian (class photographer) by his peers. He has since served as a Patrol Officer for eight years in Central East Austin, and one year in North West Austin. Detective Pursley is now assigned as an investigator with the Austin Police Department's Child Abuse Unit. He has enjoyed capturing photographs throughout his career as a both a hobby, and frequent favor to a wide variety of friends and co-workers. The photographs in this exhibit are from a perilous sea based photo expedition (which others may mistakenly refer to as a "vacation,") in September 2005 to Alaska, via Vancouver, Canada. During this expedition, Will was at times mere feet from obviously ravenous bears, attempting to fatten themselves up for winter hibernation during the salmon spawning season; and in the course of the three hour trek to make the photograph entitled Ice Formation on the Mendenhall Glacier, one British member of the expedition suffered a broken leg, due in no small part to a short jaunt mistakenly embarked upon from the high side an ice cliff. While he may be a vaguely passable photographer, Will is obviously also a daring, bold, and otherwise overly wordy author, and believes himself to have completed his third person self description. He thanks you for both viewing his works, as well as for not spitting on them while reading this bio.
