Sgt. Robert McGowen
Biography
Robert McGowen began his woodworking journey in a most non-artistic fashion--constructing nest boxes to breed his exotic parrots. Combining his enjoyment of working with his hands and his appreciation of wood as an artistic medium, Robert intuitively taught himself to turn wood on a lathe. Through turning, he finds delight in complimenting what nature has already provided. Robert now excels in a style known as polychromatic turning. By using small, select wood segments to craft his designs in a turned bowl or vase, he strives to show that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
