Eye of the Needle
Art Quilts and art fabrics are both emerging art forms for this new century. Last year's exhibit was well received by art-quilt enthusiasts, those new to the medium, and our own Dana Friis-Hansen, Executive Director of the Austin Museum of Art. Many of these quilts exhibit nationwide, often winning awards, and magazine coverage.
This year's exhibit is co-curated by Beth Kennedy. We are still accepting artists for this regional event. For details, please visit our call to artists.
The first image below was created by Beth using: 100% cotton, hand made paper, textile ink, synthetic sheer, textile paint, dimensional paint, metallic paint, foil, metal nuggets, bondable web, Tyvek, beads, cotton batt, cotton backing. The techniques used included: dye, silk screen, raw edge applique, machine quilting, machine embroidery, heat distress.
